Dinosaur Small World Play (Part 2)

Monkey has really enjoyed playing with his kinetic sand, rocks, and dinosaurs in his Dinosaur Small World Play. Today I thought we'd step it up and make an erupting volcano for the dinosaurs!

I got the idea from my incredibly creative friend Katie, who did this activity with her girls.

Supplies: old playdough, dinosaurs, bucket, vinegar, baking soda, food colouring

Monkey and I made this homemade playdough before Christmas and it's starting to become dried out. It's perfect for making a volcano with before we throw it away.

Monkey and I shaped the playdough into a volcano. He loved making the hole in the middle.

Here is the finished volcano.

Next, Monkey set up all the dinosaurs around the volcano.

I poured about a cup of vinegar into our measuring cup and Monkey added some red food colouring.

Then Monkey put two big spoonfuls of baking soda into the volcano.

Peanut woke up from his nap just in time for the big moment. Monkey carefully poured the vinegar into the volcano...

The poor dinosaurs!

Of course, Monkey wanted to play with the dinosaurs in the bubbly mixture. They had to have their baths.

And Peanut was happy just touching the goopy playdough and the bubbling vinegar and baking soda.
