Spinner Art

This morning Monkey was up really, really early, and whenever that happens he tends to get bored easily and needs a lot more attention and direction from me. So, to entertain him for a little while at least, we did some very early morning art.

Supplies: cardstock, markers, string, scissors, something round to trace

First, I traced two circles on the cardstock, one for Monkey and one for me. Then we sat down to colour them.

Monkey is really starting to get the idea of how to hold the markers and he worked really hard to stay inside the circle, too.

Once the circles were coloured in, I cut them out.

To make them into spinners, I poked two holes in the middle of each circle and thread a piece of string through. Then I tied the string so it was one loop.

To make them spin, hold an end of the loop in each hand and twist the string a whole bunch. When you let go, the string will spin the spinner!

The picture above is of Monkey's spinner. He couldn't do it by himself so I couldn't get a picture of him doing it.
