Alphabet Wall Ball

I've been noticing lately that Monkey is having trouble recognizing about half of the lowercase letters in the alphabet. While this isn't unusual, I'm going to do some more lowercase alphabet activities to help him get some more exposure and practice.

Today's activity combines letter recognition and gross motor skills. Perfect for my busy little Monkey! I saw the idea here: http://mominspiredlife.com/snowball-throw-alphabet-game/

Supplies: cardstock, markers, soft balls (can be thrown inside)

To prep this activity, I cut the cardstock down into smaller pieces and wrote the lowercase alphabet on them.

Then I taped them up on the wall with painter's tape. It's a bit hard to look at with the wallpaper but it's the best wall we have for this!

Then I gave Monkey the ball and told him we were going to throw it at the letters! I explained that we could either throw it at the wall and then say the letter it hit, or try to throw it at a certain letter. He wanted to do the alphabet in order, of course.

Even though he is just learning to throw, Monkey loved this. He missed a lot! But he never gave up.

Eventually we took turns throwing which helped him get through the alphabet a little faster.

Peanut even got in on the action after his nap, although he was more destructive than helpful.

We left the letters up for a few days and Monkey had a chance to play it with his Daddy and with his aunt and uncle, too.
