Coffee Filter Snowflakes

I'm happy to report that the weather is turning here and spring is in the air! I've got one last winter themed art activity that Monkey and I did before all the snow melts away.

I got the idea from an Instagram account that I follow (@playing_with_lighting).

Supplies: coffee filters, water colours, paintbrush, water, baking tray

To get the snowflakes ready, I folded the coffee filter three times and cut out a snowflake design.

If Monkey were a little older, I would have had him help me, but he is still learning how to hold scissors and cut.

Here's what they looked like after unfolding them.

Monkey picked the one he wanted to do first and I got him ready to paint.

Monkey painted for about five minutes before he got bored.

I negotiated with him to do a little more by helping get the paint on to the brush for him.

In the end, he finished two of the three snowflakes I had cut for him so I finished the last one. We put them up in the window and they add such a nice pop of colour to the drab end of winter mess outside.
